Brand and Graphic Design for Tenerife24

Client: Tenerife24Role: Freelance Brand Designer & Graphic Designer • Time: 2019

Tenerife24 is a small tourism business that offers excursions in the Canary Islands for Estonians in their native language, as well as assist with buying real estate in Tenerife and more. They needed a visual identity, a website to promote their services and start taking excursion bookings online and marketing graphics for social media.

I worked with them for two bigger phases. First, I designed and built a website, created a logo and set up the necessary workflow for taking online bookings. A few years later I moved the website to another platform and redesigned it to look more up-to-date. In between the two phases I made smaller updates as needed.

Project included:

  • Brand design

  • Graphic Design

  • Web Design & Development

  • Systems setup

Technologies used:

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Canva

  • HTML + CSS

  • Squarespace

  • Zapier

  • Typeform

Social Media Graphics

Their business is a seasonal one, meaning they are active in the winter and take a break in the summer. In the fall they usually start advertising for the start of a new season and needed social media graphics for that. These are the ones I created for promoting the start of 2018/19 season.

Website

Here are some screenshots of their website redesign I made in summer 2019. The client wanted the website to have a sunny light feel that represents the tropical climate, so I kept the initial signature orange chosen in 2014 because I think this color still communicates it very well.

Logo & Branding

The logo I made consists of a palm tree leaf surrounded by a circle, signifying the tropical and half-desert climate that Tenerife has. The brand name under the leaf is written in “Inbox” font. I designed the shape of the logo and left them the freedom to use it in whatever color is needed depending on where it is used - black for light backgrounds, white for dark backgrounds etc.

Before we started with any work, I helped the client think a little bit about their overall brand as well - which type of customers they’d like to attract, what they wanted to communicate and what vibe their brand should have. I found out their customer would be someone who wants to escape gloomy winter and get some sunshine to boost their mood, therefore as their signature brand color, I chose a bright orange which represents the sunny tropical climate of Tenerife.

As far as choice of photography went, the client wanted to make sure we use palm trees often and I expanded it to also showcase the nature and landscape of Tenerife with mainly picking outdoor photos for graphic design.

Booking System

They needed a system to accept excursion bookings from their website. I proposed to set up one that is as automatic as possible without a need to hire a back-end developer to build it, and has minimal need for maintenance.

The way I set it up is as follows. Visitors are able to fill out a customized form that is embedded into the website (Typeform). Their form information is sent to Zapier, which automatically forwards the necessary data to a Google Sheets document that lives on their Google Drive. There they can see a customized overview of all the bookings and group them by excursion dates. The booking information is also sent simultaneously to my clients Gmail inbox so they know when someone registers on one of their tours.
